Forrest Summers, BSN, RN, brings more than a decade of nursing experience to Haven Behavioral of Frisco, taking on ever-more demanding positions since receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of New Mexico in 2003.
As Director of Psychiatric Emergency Services, Summers was responsible for the daily operations of a 64-bed psychiatric emergency department, which provided services to 26,000 patients a year. The role included ensuring the facility met compliance requirements, in addition to other duties.
Prior to that role, Summers served as House Supervisor at Green Oaks Hospital, managing the daily staffing needs of the facility; addressing budgetary constraints; coordinating appropriate utilization timely interventions and interdisciplinary communication to enhance patient and family satisfaction; and providing a first point of contact for official complaints from staff, physicians, patients and families. When senior administration was not available, Summers acted on administration’s behalf.
Summers also spent several years at Green Oaks Hospital as a Charge Nurse, providing direct supervision at the staff level for the daily activities of the psychiatric emergency room and managing 14 day-shift employees.
